The isolationist group Nova Imperium has taken control of the Yupini system.
At the Battle of Paresa in January 3305, Nova Imperium’s armada was defeated by Imperial loyalists led by the corporate faction Yupini Limited. Their leader, self-styled ‘Imperator’ Mordanticus, was captured in the battle and executed by Denton Patreus, beginning an Empire-wide purge of the organisation.
Followers of Hadrian Augustus Duval, the grandson of Hengist Duval who appointed himself Imperator after the execution of Mordanticus, have worked since then to rebuild. After successfully taking control of Paresa, Nova Imperium expanded into Yupini Limited’s home system earlier this year. On May 12th, they declared war on the corporation in an attempt to wrest control of the system.
On May 17th, after several days of bitter fighting, Nova Imperium announced that they had defeated Yupini Limited. The defeat of their former vanquisher will be a significant boost to their cause and puts them in control of two star systems.
Commander Rainbro, a leading strategist for Nova Imperium, said:
“If the Emperor thought she could massacre Imperial citizens for political gain without consequences, she’s a fool. It has only made us stronger.”
This victory follows recent developments that saw Hadrian Duval and his cousin, Princess Aisling Duval, formally agree to a non-aggression pact. As yet, this has not led to any direct cooperation between supporters of the two — though observers predict that the Emperor will find an alliance of two of her family members a harder opponent to face down than Senator Mordanticus proved to be.
The conquest of Yupini may cause consternation among the Emperor’s inner circle. As yet, Achenar has not formally acknowledged the development or indicated that any action will be taken.
